Giorgio Moroder

Midnight Express Soundtrack

Casablanca 7114

**** recommended

1978

While Tangerine Dream’s first soundtrack (Sorcerer) the previous year probably had an influence on Moroder’s first soundtrack, likely both of the artists had influences on each other’s work. Like Tangerine Dream, Moroder made sure his first film score would be memorable.

His instrumental work on this album is clearly influential and essential listening for fans of electronic music.

Other than the two forgettable vocals cuts, the entire set is composed and produced by Moroder
